Seven members of the Uganda mission team got together last night for a quick rundown of last-minute details and then spent the next hour packing 19 suitcases and duffle bags with supplies. So much goodness in those bags! Soccer shirts, books, shoes, more books, packets for sponsored kids, still more books, crayons, soccer balls, and, of course, candy!
Everyone seems to be close to having their personal bags ready as well. The biggest concern now is the weather. Predictions of rain, ice, and snow for tonight and tomorrow have us a bit worried about getting out of St. Louis in time to catch our connecting flight in Minneapolis. We are checking into options - but recognize weather isn't something we control! Prayers for smooth check-in and on-time flights are welcome.
Looking forward to serving with this great group!
The team, minus one who lives in Boston, will gather tonight to pack our supply bags. As many of you know, we have focused on collecting children's books for this trip. What an amazing response we have had! We are excited about the impact that access to these books can have on kids in Uganda.
Plans are to take at least 18 supply bags. In addition to books, we will be delivering candy, backpacks for all of the sponsorship kids, and over 350 packets! Thank you to all of the many sponsors who took the time to put a packet together and send or bring it in. So many smiles are waiting!
The weather in St. Louis could be questionable on Saturday morning. Prayers for no delays and safe travel are appreciated!
A team of ten is heading to Uganda on February 1st. Plans for the team include visits to at least 8 villages and delivering packets from sponsors to over 300 students! The team is taking books and soccer uniforms as well. Since the new school year in Uganda begins on February 3rd, we have the opportunity to distribute new uniforms, shoes, and backpacks to the sponsored kids! Everyone is excited about working together to make a positive impact on the lives of those we meet. Prayers for safe travel are appreciated!
