A personal note from Sherrye... 
On August 7, 2010 I, Sherrye Sammons, will join nine other women on a seven day climb up Mt. Kilimanjaro. I am very excited about this physical challenge; I consider myself a very adventurous person, but have never attempted anything quite like this before!
As a volunteer and board member for Hearts and Hope, I would like to challenge you, my friends, to support me as I climb all the way to the top, a vertical distance of 19,340 feet. I am asking you to meet my challenge by making a gift for each foot of that mountain that I successfully climb.
Your support, generously given to Hearts and Hope, will provide me with the motivation I believe I will need to continue on until I have reached the summit -- knowing that each step I take will help children and families who are facing a far greater challenge in their lives, the loss of someone they love.
Thanks to the use of technology, I will keep you posted on the progress I make during my climb. I will also provide you with information, between now and then, on how well I am doing in reaching my first goal of raising $50,000 to support these grief and loss programs I feel so passionate about.
Please support me as I walk up this mountain in honor of all families and children we serve and have served over the past 14 years. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for you, me and Hearts and Hope. I hope we are all up to the challenge!
