Support Group Services
Provided for children ages 3-17 and their caregivers who have experienced the death of a loved one, support groups and the wrap-around services are facilitated by highly trained staff and qualified volunteers. There is no fee for our services! Our support group services include:
- Assessments: Families go through an initial assessment process to determine where each individual is in his/her grief process and to make sure that the support offered through our groups is adequate and will meet the needs of each person. When needed, referrals for additional support services are made.
- Peer Support Groups: There are currently ten age-appropriate children’s groups and five adult groups (caregiver or child loss). Each of these groups is held twice per month on week nights and starts with family group and a time of connection over dinner.
- Family Support Activity: This yearly activity is designed to bridge the family, and connect them with other grieving families. A variety of activities take place to facilitate this experience, while in the support of Hearts and Hope’s staff.
- Annual Family Fun Day: Held yearly, this “Family Picnic” is an opportunity for past and current Hearts and Hope families to come together. This special event helps all children and caregivers to see others beyond their group setting and to know on a larger level that they are not alone.
