Our History
Hearts and Hope, Inc. was conceived in the heart of founder and executive director, Patrice P. Austin. During her many years of experience with the terminally ill, she realized that most often the emotional needs of grieving children were not met. The empathy she had for these children compelled her to study the Warm Place and the Dougy Center; both nationally renowned grief support centers. She combined what she had learned with her own experience and in doing so created Hearts and Hope, Inc., a non-profit, 501 (c) (3), 1995. This launched an era of gathering friends and funds to make their unique program goals a reality. “Hearts in Support” became established as the central service program model, offering a variety of bereavement support groups. Community outreach efforts were made to extend support to families, caregivers, schools, professionals, and the general public through educational in-services and training. Now operating from their 1920’s Old Florida home, Hearts and Hope, Inc. is working diligently seeking new support in order to address the increasing needs of Palm Beach County's communities.
