Our
Beginning -
Hearts and Hope was conceived in the heart of Founder
and Executive Director, Patrice Austin. During her many
years of experience with the terminally ill, Patrice had
a vision to address the emotional needs of grieving
children so often non-existent. Patrice combined her
education, her experience, the empathy she felt in her
heart for children in distress, and the hope for a
program in Palm Beach County. After extensive study of
two nationally recognized grief centers, The Warm Place
in Ft. Worth, Texas and the Dougy Center in Portland,
Oregon, she was able to garner the support needed to
create Hearts and Hope in 1995.
Our
Mission - Hearts
and Hope is a not-for-profit organization devoted to
providing children, ages three to seventeen, and their
families who have experienced the death of a loved one,
a safe place in which to share and experience loving
support while moving through the grieving and healing
process.
